Too Far In Between

I know, it's been awhile since I've posted. I'll probably take a couple more weeks to get rolling again. Does anyone else wish to take the lead on this? Do you know of any local writers with some online presence? Let me know and I'll get them linked. In the meantime, enjoy your holiday season, even if that means lounging around doing squat for a couple weeks.

Word Problems

1. When writing a woman in the medical professional community, I found myself writing "your fellow radiologists."

Is there an easy alternative to "fellow," devoid of gender?

2. One word describes that black so black it appears to contain purples and blues: jet black. We use it, and it creates the exact image we need. But, we end up leaning on it, and it has become a touch cliche.

Is there another word for jet black, some synonym to keep it fresh?

Slogan Poems

Poetry is everwhere in consumerism. I'm looking at all these slogans around me, even in Ashland of all places. But, somedays they have a poetic pattern to them. Has this ever happened to you?

So, I would like to start a collaborative poem using collected slogans. You may add up to 13 slogans a time, or just give us one.

If you only put one slogan in the poem, it must go at the end. But you may rearrange all the rest in whatever fashion you wish, while keeping the slogans intact. Imagine, each slogan is a line, each line is like one card, and you can move around all but your most recently placed card.

I have only one for you today, one because it stuck in my head in a most unpleasant way:

Improving Home Improvement

Now, you copy and paste this into your comment and continue with it. Then the next person builds onto yours, and so on. Once it's bigger, I'll compile them and publish a point-two.

Who has some way to improve Improving Home Improvement?

Site Progress

Well folks, I've reshaped the site, worked out many of the bugs, and still have a list of things to add to it. I need to add the email link I created: rvwriters@roguewriting.com.

Start spreading the word everybody. Tell everyone you know about this site. Let's get this place cooking.

Work in Progress

As you can tell, we're doing a little remodeling. Apparently using a trial and error method of construction. Please bear with us as we rearrange the blog.

And, if you have a piece of work you would like to open up to critique, please email kyle@roguewriting.com.

Also coming soon, rvwriters@roguewriting.com.

Everyone should go to the Southern Oregon Authors Fair in the the Rogue River Room at the SOU Student Union tomorrow, Saturday. You can speak with authors and publishers alike.

Thanks, Robert...

...for writing all I linked to the site and letting them know about the site.

Any More Links?

As you can tell, I've added links to other writers and to the SOU related writing sites. I'm planning on researching the RCC sites, as well as their literary publication to add to the list.

Give me the links of anyone from Grants Pass to the border, and I'll get them posted.

Should we list all the writers by town?

Getting Started

If you're reading this, you probably know Kyle Stich (a.k.a. Rogue Writer). Kyle invites all of you to provide creative feedback on the look and goals of this Website.

Do you have a good blog descriptor? Do you have links you feel should be included in the sidebar? Whatever it is, share it here.

Also, I'm not sure if this blog will be open to all, or if we should make it exclusive—meaning only registered users or members of this blog can post and comment.

If you live in the Rogue Valley, especially in Ashland, join our blog.
